As you probably know, we are getting all psyched up for the opening of Swedish brands Monki and Cheap Monday on London’s Carnaby Street. FINALLY, we have the official opening date: 17th February 2012 at NOON! Two more great stores to join London’s shopping high street. Hopefully Monki are set to open around the same time, we will keep you updated.

Swedish brand Monki are set to open their London flagship store next month on Carnaby Street. The fun and cute Scandinavian brand will also be opening their sister brand Cheap Monday – a mature and darker version of Monki; urban and slick style with the Swedish flair Londoners and fashionistas worldwide adore – next door in the adjoining two-storey space. Both of these fashion brands are owned by H&M.

If you have been past Carnaby Street in the last month you would have seen signs up about the new space right in the centre of London’s most famous shopping streets. Monki has been a long time favourite brand of mine since discovering its quirky stores in Sweden. The stores are designed by architecture/design studio Electric Dreams, who will also be the guys behind the design concept of Monki, London. The store concept will be based on Monki’s underwater theme “Sea Of Scallops” which is also used in their main Stokholm flagship. The set themes of their shops, and the design of it, are nothing like any other on London’s high street. The stores are over the top, colourful, overwhelming and use every space possible to merchandise clothing, but the fun element and the cool factor is what will make it stand out against any other. Stepping into a Monki store is an experience all in itself; it’s not just a clothes store, you are entering the Monki World.  It is going to quite exciting to hear the British public’s response to the opening of Monki! With the success of their concession in Selfridges store – which has given London a small taster of Monki’s quirky take on modern staples – we are super excited for the opening. Keep your eyes on the blog for a post about the opening!

The February launch comes just in time for Monki’s latest Spring Dance collection. The collection has the nautical theme in full flow, with plenty of stripes – vertical and horizontal – gold buttons used on double breasted blazers and plenty of navy and white. The fresh ‘Monki’ take on the nautical look means there are not only navy striped goodies, but also pastel apple greens and golden yellow perfect for spring. Check out the full looks on here.

This Friday, between 12pm and 4pm, Shellys will be hosting a shoe sample sale in their London HQ with sister brand Miss L Fire. Located just a couple of minutes away from Oxford Circus tube station, this sale is unmissable, especially with their crazy price slashes. All shoes will start from £5 and will be no more than £20! How crazy is that? Shoes available will be from past seasons as well as never been worn production samples, including heels, boots and flats. The majority of stock will be in sample size 37 (UK 4), but it is worth checking out because there are a few other sizes about too, up to size 41.

Its always a good day of sample sales when you find out one of your favourite brands are having a sample sale! Streetwear brand Obey are holding one of their very popular sample sales at the usual location, The Old Truman Brewery. The sample sale will be kicking off tomorrow, 15th December, until Sunday 18th December, giving us 4 whole days to get down to Brick Lane to shop Obey goodies at bargain prices.

There will be a big selection – enough stock to run a sample sale for 4days – of one-offs, sample pieces and previous season collections from Obey’s range of products. These include tees, caps, accessories, outerwear, fleece, cut & sew, and even product from the brand’s women’s range. All stock will be heavily reduced so get there early to avoid disappointment, it starts at 5pm tomorrow!

The guys over at Original Penguin are felling super festive and generous this Christmas! After giving us a treat of a sample sale only last week, Original Penguin are back with more offers and entertainment today and tomorrow. Swedish Hasbeens are best known for turning clunky clogs into a much loved shoe, making it a must have in every fashionista’s wardrobe. Swedish Hasbeens took the iconic wooden soles of clogs and used them in biker boots, brightly coloured loafers, sandals and most recently bowling style shoes; catching the eyes of many fashion forwards bloggers who showcased them across the blogsphere a few years back. Still very popular, these reworked “ugly” shoes are not going anywhere soon! The quirky, incoherent, fun shoes will always make a statement in any outfit, taking comfort as well as style into consideration.

Usually retailing for around £200 a pair, these shoes aren’t the most affordable, but they are now! Swedish Hasbeens are having a sample sale tomorrow, Tuesday 13th December, from 12pm – 7pm. A variety of stock from AW10, SS11 and AW11 will be available with prices ranging from £50, and not exceeding £100. Unfortunately the size ranges available are only 38 and 39 (equivalent to a UK 5 and 6) and 42 for mens (UK 8).
